چکیده
ground robot team is because both micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) and micro ground vehicles (MGVs) are limited in their ability to search and transport objects or complete complex missions. The payload of MAVs is relatively small and they have difficulty in transporting objects; the speed of MGVs is relatively slow for performing rescue missions. We overcome this limitation by using the cooperation between the MAVs and MGVs, ie we use the speed of the MAVs and the payload of the MGVs to accomplish the tasks in our system (Figure 3). In order to make the system robust against robot failure, the robots will backup the data by using a broadcast protocol to send it to the onsite manager, a ground station with more powerful processors.

Adaptive and intelligent navigation of autonomous planetary rovers - A survey
The application of robotics and autonomous systems in space has increased dramatically. The ongoing Mars rover mission involving the Curiosity rover, along with the success of its predecessors, is a key milestone that showcases the existing capabilities of robotic technology. Nevertheless, there has still been a heavy reliance on human tele-operators to drive these systems. Reducing the relianc...
متن کاملAutonomous Rovers for Human Exploration of Mars
Autonomous rovers are a critical element for the success of human exploration of Mars. The robotic tasks required for human presence on Mars are beyond the ability of current rovers; these tasks include landing-site scouting and mining, as well as emplacement and maintenance of a habitat, fuel production facility, and power generator. These tasks are required before and also during human presen...
متن کاملEnabling Autonomous Rover Science Through Dynamic Planning and Scheduling1
TABLE OF CONTENTS Abstract— With each new rover mission to Mars, rovers are traveling significantly longer distances. This distance increase allows not only the collection of more science data, but enables a number of new and different science collection opportunities. Current mission operations, such as that on the 2003 Mars Exploration Rovers (MER), require all rover commands to be determined...
متن کاملContinuous Planning and Execution for an Autonomous Mars Rover
This paper describes how continuous planning and execution techniques can be used to perform intelligent decision-making for an autonomous Mars rover. The resulting system coordinates low-level rover functionality to achieve science targets while respecting rover resource and operation constraints. Provided capabilities include initial schedule generation, schedule execution and monitoring, and...
متن کاملOverview of the Mars Exploration Rovers’ Autonomous Mobility and Vision Capabilities
NASA’s Mars Exploration Rovers have set the standard for autonomous robotic exploration of planetary surfaces. Their abilities to detect and avoid geometric hazards, and measure and compensate for slip or heading changes, have made it possible to drive farther and in highly sloped areas, increasing the science return of the mission. Software updates that took place during the more than three ye...
